Once applied, the solvent begins to evaporate, allowing the prepolymer components to penetrate deeply into the smallest crevices and voids between the sand and pavers. This deep penetration is critical as it ensures that the stabiliser binds the jointing sand, preventing weed growth and future sand loss but remains flexible as per pavement design. 

Polymerization, or the process by which the prepolymer components bond and harden, is triggered by atmospheric moisture.
