Hebburn Regeneration

The Site:

In 2019, South Tyneside Council made a commitment to regenerating the town of Hebburn. Alongside the refurbishment of Hebburn Town Centre, £13 million was set aside for the creation and development of Hebburn Central, a new hub which would act as a catalyst and anchor to secure private sector interest and funding. As part of this upgrades were made to the public realm including the complete replacement of pavers.

The Challenge:

As part of the regeneration of Hebburn, the Council worked with Mountbatten Shopping Centre to create new retail space, including that of a new supermarket, to improve the retail experience for residents and visitors and which help drive further footfall into the Town Centre. The council saw the potential for paving failure, caused by the extra footfall traffic that the regenerated retail space would create.

The Solution:

Having seen the performance of Resiblock ’22’ A.F at both Ocean Road and Sea Road, South Tyneside Council saw no reason to change sealer when similar requirements came about for the Hebburn Regeneration. Not only does the sealer prevent sand loss caused by large volumes of footfall traffic, but also provide protection to the surfaces of the pavers.

Benefits at a Glance:
