Berewood Green, Waterlooville

The Site

Sitting at the heart of the ‘West of Waterlooville Major Development Area’, Berewood Green was designed to act as the ‘spark of regeneration’ of the surrounding area, following the start of construction in January 2017. The mixed-use development consists of 3,000 new homes, 2 new primary schools, retail, leisure and community facilities.

The Challenge

Following completion of works in 2021 it was determined that the Concrete Block Paving on site did not require sealing, despite the fact that CBP was utilised not only on the pedestrian footpaths, but on many of the roadways within Berewood Green. With high volumes of both vehicular and pedestrianised traffic, the unsealed sand joints were soon eroded which resulted in paver destabilisation throughout Berewood Green.

The Solution

Following consultations, Resiblock were able to demonstrate how the use of Resiblock ‘22’ would stabilise the sand joints under the weight of vehicular trafficking for the lifetime of the paver pavement. Previous use at similar mixed-use developments at Alexandra Meadows in Hampshire and The Greenway in Oxfordshire, showcased the longevity that Resiblock could provide, specifically in developments that benefitted from large amounts of housing.
