Case Study

Project: Withernsea
Client: East Riding of Yorkshire C.C.
Contractor: PBS Construction (North East) Ltd
Site: Marshalls Keyblok
Resiblock Product: Resiblock Ultra Matt
Date: June 2013

The Site

Withernsea is a seaside town and focal point of local villages and the high street had recently been completely refurbished with the pavements re-laid with Marshalls Keyblok.

The Challenge

We were approached by East Riding of Yorkshire C.C. (whom we had recently worked with in nearby Beverley) to resolve an unforeseen sand erosion issue that was necessitating on-going maintenance. Many of the shop fronts have canopies and the rainwater flowing from these was eroding the jointing sand. Additionally given the staining issues from foodstuffs and the like in this seaside resort the council were also looking to protect their investment and maintain the much improved aesthetics.

The Solution:

This common problem is resolved by the application of a Resiblock sand stabiliser & sealer. Post the sealing of sample blocks provided by Marshalls, the council specified our specialist commercial sealer Resiblock Ultra Matt, a one pack moisture cured specialist pre-polymer urethane paving sealer. In additional this sealer has a high order of UV resistance and will provide an enhancement to coloured paving both concrete & natural.

The Benefits:

Easy application requires no specialist labour; Resiblock Ultra Matt binds the jointing sand preventing its removal from both natural and manmade forces. It will inhibit weed and grass growth from the joint whilst providing a significant degree of stain protection. Once cured, it remains fully elastomeric thereby accommodating the small elastic deflections incorporated in the pavement design.
